Property Description
Own a fabulous piece of history on one of the more gorgeous roads in Washington County. From the 1840s, this solidly built home has sat proudly on a hill overlooking the historic valley and Vermont's mountains beyond. When you arrive, notice the original slate mounting block in front and imagine the horses and carriages there, as they were the only method of transport when this home was built. Did any famous people step on this block over 120 years ago? Inside, there were some updates over the years, though the future owner will surely want to invest and bring everything up to their tastes. There is an apartment attached that hasn't been touched since the 1950s, so don't be surprised at its state. The space is tremendous, and it's all there. There is a wonderful barn to the side. This was part of a larger property that's also being sold (31.41 acres) directly across the street, which has several barns also right on the road, priced at $270,000 or combined. Positioned within easy reach of Lake George, Saratoga Springs, and the Vermont border, this is horse country, ski country, and lake country all at once. Properties with this combination of acreage, history, views, and accessibility at this price point are genuinely rare -- and getting rarer. The home's address is expected to change to 199 Carlton Road in the future.
